A MacPherson strut front suspension and double wishbone rear independent suspension provide a cushioned ride on the Outback. Due to its SUV orientation, the vehicle has its suspension lifted a significant distance from the driving surface to better avoid potentially damaging debris. For sharp handling, the wagon uses electric power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering to achieve a turning circle of 36.1 cubic feet.

Powertrain - Subaru Outback specs near Ferndale MI

Powering the base-level and Premium trims of the 2019 Subaru Outback is a 2.5-liter flat-four-cylinder (H4) engine, which produces 175 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. If you go with the Limited or the Touring, you can opt for a 3.6-liter H6, which generates 256 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque. Each engine is joined to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) for eschewing gear shifting to produce a smoother ride than what traditional transmissions provide. However, the CVT does come with a 6-speed manual mode and a pair of paddle shifters to simulate a gear shifting feel. All-wheel drive is standard on the Outback for maximizing traction when driving on slippery surfaces, and X-MODE® technology is included to avoid wheelspin in low-friction driving situations.

Safety Features - 2019 Subaru Outback dealer

The 2019 Outback has six airbags, which consist of dual front impact airbags, dual front seat-mounted side impact airbags, and a pair of roof-mounted side curtain airbags. Also standard on the vehicle are electronic vehicle stability control, traction control, hill start assist, hill descent control, and four-wheel ventilated anti-lock disc brakes with brake override and brake assist. For 2019, EyeSight® driver-assistance technology, which includes adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking, and lane departure and keep assist, is standard on all trims, instead of just the Touring like the previous model year. You will need to get the Premium trim to also get STARLINK™ Safety and Security suite of services, which include automatic collision notification, SOS emergency assistance, stolen vehicle recovery, and roadside assistance. The Limited and Touring stand apart with their additional blind-spot detection with rear cross-traffic assist and lane change assist.
